Happy Stories: Making The Leap – Daniel & Joanne

Happy Stories Making The Leap

If asked if we’ve ever been in a position where we feel that we’re grafting away to line somebody else’s pockets, most of us would raise our hand. And, at times, it’s not a very nice feeling. It can be demoralising to work hard but not feel rewarded for all the effort made. Many of us harbour the dream to have our own business and work for ourselves – but aren’t sure where to start. This is the beauty of a Time For You franchise – there’s help every step of the way and the rewards are large.

We’ve put together a series of blogs, in which we’ve spoken to a selection of people who have bought a Time For You (TFY) franchise and are delighted to share their happy stories.

We spoke to Daniel Tidswell who co-owns the Time For You Preston franchise, with his wife Joanne, in Lancashire.

What Did You Do Before Buying Your Time For You Franchise?

I was formerly a policeman and then a teacher. Joanne also worked in education as a child safeguarding officer.

Was There A Reason Why You Bought The Franchise? What Led You To Make The Change?

Having children and wanting a greater work-life balance! I also liked the idea of working for myself. I really like the fact that you get a financial reward for the effort you put in. In previous careers, everyone gets the same no matter how hard they work.

Was It A Difficult Decision To Make? For Example, Did You Have Worries And Concerns? If So, How Were These Put To Rest?

I was concerned that we would not be good enough and I worried if we’d be able to get enough clients… I did my research, though. I rang around current franchisees (about 50 of them) and from that I deduced that the model worked consistently. Therefore, I figured that if I followed the model then there was no reason to suggest it would not work for me. I can now confidently say that it does work!

What Are The Key Benefits Of Being A Time For You Franchisee?

The work-life balance and the financial reward. And being your own boss. The TFY Workplace is a great tool for advice/new ideas: there is always someone to help you out if needed.

What’s Surprised You The Most About Your Time For You Journey?

The speed at which the business grew: Jo was able to leave work within three months. By then we could cover costs and pay her MORE than her current job.

If You Were To Recommend A Friend To Become A Time For You Franchisee, What Would You Say?

I would always recommend Time For You. It has literally changed our lives on multiple levels.
